Notes for elective subjects:
1)One of the electives must be any Category A subjects excluding Extended Part of Mathematics (Module 1 or Module 2);
2)The other elective can be any of the following subjects:
a) Category A subjects including Extended Part of Mathematics (Module 1 or Module 2);
b) Related Applied Learning subjects (with "Attained with Distinction (I)" or above) listed in the following website: https://www.comm.hkbu.edu.hk/admission/en/Att-1.pdf;
c) Other Language subjects at Grade E or above.
Remarks on other requirements:
1)Good results in English Language, Mathematics Compulsory Part and Visual Arts subjects are preferred.
2)High choice banding in JUPAS application is preferred.
3)Candidates may be required to attend an interview. Candidates are required to present their portfolios during the interview. They do not need to submit their portfolios before/after the interview.
4)Candidates should prepare their portfolios in digital format for the ease of presentation. Portfolios should demonstrate candidates' potential in creativity, visual and design literacy, animation and/or game design.
Programme Description
The Game Design and Animation Major offers a coherent curriculum with dual emphasis on both game design and computer animation for students who are looking for professional and interdisciplinary holistic learning experience to equip themselves for digital entertainment industry and postgraduate study. The curriculum comprises fundamental courses in game design and animation; from drawing and animating for storytelling to coding, programming and mathematical concepts behind them, as well as social and historical studies of game design and animation. Moreover, students can further develop their expertise in senior years through specialisation in either Advanced Game Design Stream or Advanced Animation Stream to deepen their knowledge and skills for the preparation of their Final Year Honours Projects.

The programme provides an unique professional education in game design and animation with a broad elective study through a comprehensive list of courses offered by the Department of History, and the Department of Music, and the Academy of Film to enrich students’ liberal arts education learning experience.

Career prospects for graduates include game designer, game programmer, animator, creative professional in digital media such as TV, film, and social media, and content creator in industries such as advertising, branding, online communication, and visual design.

The Programme will consider Extended Part of Mathematics (Module 1 or 2) as an unspecified elective subject in meeting the entrance requirements and as a whole subject in score calculation.
